Byrsonima crassifolia (Nance, Nancite)

Nance fruits are used in a lot in Nicaragua for traditional food. The flowers are an important food source for bees and a lot of birds feed on the fruits.

    • Pollination: Insects, especially bees

    • Uses: Edible fruits, medicinal plant (bark for medicinal anti-diarrheal use, gynecological problems) and uses for crafts (dyeing bark)

ABOUT "WE LOVE CACAO"

We are building a food forest based on cacao in Nicaragua to create a species-rich ecosystem that will contribute to the reforestation of cleared land, provide habitat for local wildlife and provide food and work for the people in the region.
